Cycling Strategy
Project Summary
Embracing the imperative shift in the region's development model and its tourism offerings, driven by the impacts of climate change, Copenhagenize strategically advises the program of Avenir Montagnes Ingénierie. The primary focus is to formulate a comprehensive cycling tourism strategy for the Serre-Ponçon region in the French Alps. Against the backdrop of the region's picturesque landscape and its vibrant outdoor and sports activities, the overarching goal of the strategy is to position the area as a leading cycling destination. This mission takes a multifaceted approach, encompassing the assessment of tourism attractiveness, analysis of necessary investments, and projection of potential returns for the entire territory, including its three mountain resorts.
Leveraging the existing foundation of two bikeparks and an array of mountain biking and gravel trails, the strategy initially aims to enhance sports cycling. This functions as a transitional phase, facilitating the development of essential cycling infrastructure to support itinerant and leisure cycling in the medium and long term, especially with the envisioned cycling greenway tour around the lake. Crucially, this dedicated cycle tourism infrastructure is poised to play a pivotal role in daily mobility, with the proposed routes serving as effective conduits for daily commutes, contingent upon favorable conditions such as direct routes and seamless connections with everyday destinations. Furthermore, the strategy capitalizes on the active engagement of local stakeholders, leveraging their commitment to cycling to shape a diverse array of activities and services that will contribute to the region's cycling growth.
